Edna Violet Hair & Beauty – Brand Identity & Squarespace Website Design
Edna Violet Hair & Beauty was founded by Tamra, an experienced stylist with over 30 years in the industry. After beginning her career in Melbourne and later running a mobile hairdressing business near Brisbane, she took the leap into opening her first salon in Robina, Queensland. Edna Violet offers a full range of services including colouring, cutting, extensions, blow dry and set, perming, and works with trusted organic haircare brands Pure and Davines. The salon also partners with a local beauty therapist, extending services into relaxation and beauty treatments.

When Tamra first reached out, she had an initial Canva design and a mood board inspired by a framed peacock print hanging in the salon. While her self-made materials captured the spirit of her vision, they didn’t communicate the professional, high-quality look she wanted for her new business. She needed a cohesive brand identity that reflected luxury and sophistication, along with a functional website to manage bookings and showcase services.

I built on Tamra’s early ideas and translated them into a professional brand system that could work seamlessly across digital, print, and in-salon touchpoints. My focus was on keeping her original inspiration — the peacock motif and rich colours — while elevating the execution into a refined identity with practical applications for both client-facing and behind-the-scenes needs.

Logo design: An Art Nouveau-inspired logo with horizontal and stacked variations, echoing the artistry of hairstyling while ensuring legibility across signage, print, and digital formats.
Colour palette: Deep jade/forest green paired with rich gold for timeless luxury, accented with warm coral for calls-to-action. The palette tied in with the peacock motif, creating a distinctive and inviting atmosphere.
Typography: A pairing of stylish yet accessible Google Fonts, allowing Tamra to create her own Canva marketing materials while keeping the look consistent.
Print & signage: Coordinated business and appointment cards, a shopfront light box, window graphics, and a gold logo sign for the salon entrance.
Website design: Planned, designed, and launched a bespoke Squarespace site with core pages (Home, Services, About, Booking, Contact), fully integrated with her booking system.
SEO setup: Optimised page titles, meta descriptions, image alt text, and site structure to give the salon visibility in local search results.

Within its first year, Edna Violet Hair & Beauty became a thriving salon that is consistently fully booked. The strong brand presence extended beyond the salon, with Tamra actively promoting on social media using the assets I provided. The business also became more visible in the local community through charity sponsorships, building recognition and trust.
Now planning to expand her team, Tamra’s success demonstrates how thoughtful branding and a well-structured website can transform a vision into a respected and busy local destination.
